For the animal lovers, The Amanda Foundation is kicking off their third annual Bow Wow Beverly Hills event tonight. Festivities include the adopt-a-pet green carpet fashion show, a luxury silent auction, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Proceeds benefit The Amanda Foundation, dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats.

Fresh off the the renewed attention towards Islam due to the recent elections, the Zocalo series presents What is the West's Problem with Islam? Led by Christopher Caldwell, of Financial Times, The New York Times Magazine and The Weekly Standard fame, the discussion focuses on Islamophobia and whether or not inherit conflicts exist between Western culture and Islam.

THEATRE
Orange County Performing Arts Center and Oprah Winfrey present the powerful musical/play The Color Purple. Based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize winning novel by the same name, the play recounts the story of black female life in pre-World War II America. In particular, the plot focuses on a character named Celie who has to overcome numerous challenges in her life before finding happiness. Through November 30th.
