Looters Help Themselves to Fire Evacuees' Belongings

LAPD arrest looters in Porter Ranch burglarizing the homes of wildfire evacueesAs part of the unified command set up yesterday in Los Angeles to combat the Sayre Fire, the LAPD had 150-200 officers on hand to assist evacuees and to patrol the evacuated areas once the fire was out. In Porter Ranch, at least one homeowner reported looting, as he returned to his property to check on his doors, and found two women taking his belongings from his home.

According to the LAPD officer who spoke to abc7.com, "the man told police that the women -- a 19-year-old from North Hollywood and a 32-year-old from Sherman Oaks -- were stacking his property outside the house and carrying them to a green four-door Infinity." Things that were on their way out: "Jewelry, clothing, purses, video games and spare keys," among other items. They were subsequently arrested, and police believe the pair may have burglarized other homes in the area.
