To bbkong:

Again, we have a person on the No on 8 side with an IQ of less than 100. You know nothing about tax shelting.

The only church or priest guilty of losing any tax exempt status, is the Pasadena Church who continues to perform marriage ceremonies, by some calling of his god, most be satan, his choice though, but illegal an dhe admits to it and the gay catholic priest who violated his priest vows by telling people, that to embrace their gayness and ignore God and then he comes on TV and campaigns for No on Prop 8.

Since you are foolish, do you remember Pat Robertson? He ran for President and conitnued to pastor and run his religious TV show. You are like the foolish people, who do not know or comprehend the Suprem Court ruling on separation of church and state. A clue; It goes both ways and says that government can not take a postion as to infringe, hinder, or put religion in an unfair advantage. Don't beleive me? The case is Suprem Court; Albington School District v. Schempp.

Paid in Full.

Considering the number of churches that got involved with promoting Prop 8, I think it's high time we place a proposition on the ballot that would require them to pay state taxes.

The basis of their tax sheltering is the separation of church and state and they seem compelled to repeatedly violate that by pressing their religious views with impunity.

If they want a voice in political life then they should step up and pay their way like the rest of us.

"i voted against prop 8, but it seems to me that asking the court to overturn it is akin to what the Supreme Court did when it announced W president."

Not the same really.

If it gets overturned it would not be the first time a ballot initiative that passed by popular vote has been overturned as being unconstitutional.

from Wikipedia;

"California Proposition 187 was a 1994 ballot initiative designed to deny illegal immigrants social services, health care, and public education. It was introduced by assemblyman Dick Mountjoy (Republican from Monrovia, California) as the Save Our State initiative. A number of other organizations were involved in bringing it to the voters. It passed with 58.8% of the vote,[1] but was overturned by a federal court."

i can't deal with sasper and gingerous. this is why all types of folks (not just gays/lesbians) are protesting and trying to make a difference. the fact that LA county joined this lawsuit only shows how far LA has come.

we're here, we're queer and we ain't going no fucking where until justice prevails. you deal with it.

@gingerous: I agree. This sort of dedication to the cause should have happened before the election, not after.

Prop 8 won. Deal with it until you can vote again, and don't mess around and get complacent the next time around.

You are welcome to use the video LAist featured last week of Prop8 posters found at our polling place the morning of election day. Posters were at the location throughout election day in bathrooms, on doors and throughout the area where voters waited in line for an hour prior to casting their ballots. I wrote to the officials at lavote.net to complain and ask that our polling place be moved for future elections; this is illegal and deliberate action that tampered with the results of a close election.
