Arcadia wasn't ALWAYS 700k-1m for homes. When I was a kid, it was more reasonable to buy a home there. And Chinese parents will do practically anything to get their kids into a good school district.

Can somebody please explain to me how a city with a median income somewhere between $40k and $100k has homes that start at $1m? Even if the median income was right at $100k, how can people at that income bracket afford housing that STARTS at $1m?

i went to loyola high school downtown where we literally had students from every neighborhood in los angeles...ranging from compton to malibu. there was a ton of kids from the pasadena/san gabriel valley area. i remember specifically not liking most of the kids from arcadia and monrovia. if there was a young republicans group at my school, they would've been part of it.

not just any asian... chinese. chinese make the best neighbors. vietnamese, on the other hand, do not.

Yeah I live in the Monterey Park area and drive through Arcadia once in awhile. Some of those homes are up in the millions if not at lease $700k so I hope they don't mean housing.

They weigh school performance heavily, but does that mean people should use that as a measure of where they should raise their kids? Is the school performance high because the school (faculty, facilities, etc) is good or because the student body is 65% asian.
