  • Fantastic news for people wishing to attend a California State University school in the near future: You might not be able to! The Governor's "$66 million in midyear funding cuts to the CSU system" mean enrollment caps. It's also fantastic news for teachers whose jobs depend on enrollment. Way to prioritize for the future, there, Arnie.
  • And another one bites the dust: West Los Angeles-based Security Pacific Bank was shut down yesterday, and most loans will be taken over by the FDIC.
  • LA County Assistant Fire Chief Glynn Johnson is under, well, fire, for allegedly beating a puppy. He has been placed on paid administrative while the Riverside County Sheriff's Department conducts their investigation.
  • UCLA basketball player Nikola Dragovic was arrested last night on suspicion of misdemeanor battery against his former girlfriend. The 20-year-old Serbian native posted bail and was released overnight.
  • Another reason why Prop 8 is bad? How about that it's bad for business? In this economy, any wound to an already injured system hurts more now than ever.
  • Listen up, fans of Sex and the City! Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte will be back in another movie, set to begin production next summer. In the first film we saw Samantha abandon her life in LA to return to NYC; no word on the plot line for the next installment.
  • It was an international upset in local waters today when "Timothee Creignout from France eliminated San Clemente’s Colin McPhillips from the Oxbow Pro this morning (Saturday) at San Onofre State Beach," per the OC Register. Sacre bleu!
