Rick Caruso, Grove/Americana Builder, Not to Run for Mayor

rick caruso not running for mayorMany were hoping that shopping mall magnet Rick Caruso would enter the 2009 race to run for Los Angeles mayor. Some wanted to see him as mayor, others wanted him in the race so it would be an actual race--Caruso could afford to run against Villaraigosa's campaign which has already raised over $2 million. But family comes first for the developer he said in a statement today. "I have decided that the obligation of serving as mayor would put a burden on my family that is too much at this point in their lives and, as a result, I will not be a candidate in the upcoming campaign for mayor," he said, per the LA Times.

Walter Moore '09

rumor is, if he won, he was going to build a trolley at City Hall

thank god.. everything would have looked like disneyland with walls around it.

I never heard of a shopping mall magnet. I have heard of a refrigerator magnet. The author probably is no literary magnate.

"I have decided that the obligation of serving as mayor would put a burden on my family that is too much at this point in their lives and, as a result, I will not be a candidate in the upcoming campaign for mayor"

Translation: "I have cheated on my wife/am secretly gay/have bribed politicians/have been recorded saying or doing something embarassing."
