Suspect Held in Silver Lake Double Murder

21-year-old Robert Mendez known for his erratic behavior is being held in the murder of his father and uncle who were discovered yesterday in a shallow grave behind their apartment on the 2800 block of London Street near the 101 Freeway and Silver Lake Blvd.

A relative called the police when she became worried after she found household items soaked in blood in the backyard. "Responding officers discovered splatters of apparent blood on the walls and floors of the apartment," the LAPD said in a release. "Detectives noticed the back door was open, and cadaver dogs led them to a freshly dug grave covered with a blood-soaked chair, carpet and other fabric," the LA Times added.
