Last night's election was, as it has been and will be oft repeated, historic.
LAist Featured Photos pool contributor suckafuck captured this image from the floor of the ballroom of the Hyatt Century Plaza at the Obama Victory Party. There were many, many, many Election Night events going on around Los Angeles last night, some focused on specific candidates or ballot initiatives, some just focused on celebrating the democratic process. The Obama event at the Century Plaza was one of the biggest--in fact, the LAFD issued an "overcrowding" warning last night, although nothing or no one ever got out of hand. Hopefully some of you made your way to The Causecast/LAist party at the Edison (although we know lots of you were at home with your remote control and your Twitter account handy!).
Where were you last night when you heard the news?

I was walking into my birthday party at South in Santa Monica. All the tv's flashing "Obama wins presidential race" I couldn't believe it!!!
I wanted to be at the Hyatt Century Plaza but I received an email last week from the organizers saying that 10,000 people had rsvp'ed. The prospect of fighting to get in did not appeal to me. Instead, I was on my couch watching Stewart/Colbert when the election was called at about 8:01 and then walked to my friend's place to celebrate!
