Reports are slowly trickling in from around Los Angeles that, surprise, voting lines are long. LAist contributers Sam Kim and Sarah Ardalani report varying wait times in West L.A. and Echo Park, respectively. At Kim's polling place, lines stretched about 40 minutes long while Ardalani waited about 15 minutes at Golden West Christian Church off of Alvarado and Sunset where "tons of people" cast their ballots Tuesday morning.

I am heading to my 3rd Street School polling place now. I wonder how long the lines are going to be. Happy Election Day everyone!

About 45 minutes by Melrose/La Brea. It was a pretty smooth operation, just loads of people.

I got to the polls in Porter Ranch at about 7:20am. I've voted here for 22 years and never had to stand in line. There are usually about 8 voting booths. There were still only 8 booths today. When I arrived there were about 40 people waiting. When I left about 20 minutes later the line had doubled and was nearly out the door.

First off there is never a line at my voting place, this time around it was about a 30min wait at my polling place (2 precincts), but I got pulled in because I had my sample ballot and my table had no line, but for those who did not have their sample ballot (which indicates the table) they probably waited about 45mins to an hour. after i voted the guy who was in line in front of me who forgot his sample ballot was still in line. Otherwise it was pretty smooth. Get out & Vote!

forgot to mention my polling place is in North Hollywood - Oxnard Street Elementary School

Got to my polling place at about 8:00in Toluca Lake. There was a 10-30 minute wait, depending on what line you had to get in. Everything was much quicker than I had expected.

Not much of a line at all. Voted at 8:20 am in the Los Feliz / Oaks area. Very exciting so many folks are getting out the vote!

Less than two minutes at my polling place on 24th St., but still healthy number of people moving through that tiny room.

My polling place is the Womens Club of Hollywood. It's located on LaBrea in between Franklin/Hollywood. I'm going to go this evening, but when I walked by on my way to work (around 8:15) - the line was wrapped around the building.

I voted at Alhambra Park at about 8:45; the only delay was my wandering around going, "This can't be the place... where is everybody?" It was in fact the place, and where everybody was was, apparently, elsewhere.

My polling place is also the Women's Club on LaBrea in Hollywood. Arrived at about 7:20 a.m. to a line outside of 100-125 people. I waited for about 20 minutes until an election worker came out said those voting at a yellow table could go in through the back. Only three people in front of me in that line and I voted and left within 10 minutes.

Mail-in = easiest way to go. (I voted last week!)

I always vote absentee, but like to turn in my ballot on election day so that I can get the "I Voted" sticker. My polling place was at an elementary school in the Echo Park hills. I showed up around 9am and there was a line that looked to be about a 20-25 minute wait. Luckily for me, I got to step right inside, hand them my absentee ballot, collect my sticker and be on my way!

Ghandi once said "be the change you want to see in the world." Go out and vote!

Vote by mail - it's the wave of the future.

With that said, on my 7:30 am drive to work, my neighbors were out in full force at the church on Fairfax, near Pico!

90 minute wait in Palms, but the line was shortening as I left (at 9:30am or so).

I'm with pragmacat. I mailed in my ballot 10 days ago. Stickers are fun, but I have to be at work between 8:30 and 5:30 exactly, and can't afford to wait an hour or two at my polling place (especially when I need to leave my house at 7:45 anyway). This way I got to wake up at my normal time this morning. :-)

Somewhat of a long line at 18th St. Art Center in Santa Monica, but I had a mail in ballot already filled out to turn in, so I got to walk to the front and hand it off. This way I avoided the stress, and got my sticker.

My boyfriend reports he's been waiting in line for 45 minutes at Santa Monica/Poinsettia, and there are still 25 people in line ahead of him.

Supposedly 45 mins - hour on the west side of Sherman Oaks.I'll update once I get through the line...

8am. Burbank (on the North Hollywood border). 45 minute wait for a place that has never seen a line before. Wow.

Pictures on my blog. :)

Voted early this morning, around 7:20, in south Glendale. Usually there's no line at all, the only delays I've ever experienced are due to the fumbling of the polling officials.

This election? Fifteen minute wait, although it looked sooo much more organized than my previous experiences with that location.

I know I could've waited until after work, but good golly, I don't know if I would be able to concentrate on anything else!

I got to my polling place in Inglewood a little before 7AM and got done about 8:30AM. So 90 minutes and the line was even longer when I left.

I just got back from Third Street School in Hancock Park. The line took about 30 minutes. It was very organized and running smoothly. I want to thank all the people who are volunteering today to run the polling places.

My polling place is in Marina del Rey. There was a short line at 6:30 when I got there. Half an hour later the polls opened on time. It took about fifteen minutes to get to the booth and another ten to vote. So twenty five minutes after 7:00 I had voted and was leaving.

The line that was only fifteen deep when I got there was several hundred deep when I left.

I feel for the poll workers.

Just voted in Westchester around 10 AM at the Loyola Village Elementary School on Villanova Ave. Was about a 30 min. wait. Had fun talking to the senior citizens in line. They said this was the first year there had been a line at this polling location. Every one agreed this was great. Poll workers had everything well organized. Was glad I didn't go at 7 AM - huge line of early risers!

I got to my polling place at Hollywood's Vendanta Society at 8:00 a.m. and it took about half an hour to get to the voting booth. The line was getting longer and longer, but it was moving at a steady speed. And no one seemed to mind the long line.

The Women's Club on LaBrea in Hollywood was about and hour at 9:30am and an hour and a half at 7:30am.
..unless you go to the yellow table, then its a 5 minute wait.

I vote in the rec center of the condo complex next door in Monterey Hills. Usually I just run over before heading off to work, take 5 minutes, and I'm done. Today I was 5th in line at 6:45. When the polls opened at 7 there were at 50 or 60. When I left it had doubled. No complaints though. Everyone seemed excited to be a part of it.

There were a couple hundred people at the polling location I just returned from. How long was my wait?

Zero minutes.

Request a Vote By Mail ballot and you can bypass the line and head directly to the ballot box with your completed VBM ballot (I filled mine out this morning over coffee).

The great thing with VBM is you have *options* - you can either mail it in OR you can drop it off directly at *any* polling location county-wide.

Expand your options and save time! Vote by mail!

fitful - I'm supposed to vote at the Yellow Table, a 5 minute wait sounds good to me, but do you know why that table has fewer voters?

Easy 75 minutes at 1001 18th Street in Santa Monica.

My roomate waited...I just dropped off my mail-in... the longest part for me was the walk from my place to the polling station.

9:45 at a residence Toluca Lake. 30 second wait to receive ballot and be in a voting booth. The whole experience took all of 3 minutes.

Waited an hour and a half on Ocean/Bicknell in Santa Monica. Lots and lots of folks out voting this morning, felt like a party!

2.5 hours in West LA but well worth it!

Not a single person in line at the Kenter Canyon school off of Sunset. Though there was a swarm of reporters/paparazzi in front of the door (its the polling place the Governor would use, were he to vote in person).

Just got back from the Sherman Oaks Women's Center on Kester. Although the wait was 45 mins - hour this morning it took me about 20 mins at 10:30.

There are 3 precincts voting at this location, signage is poor and sometimes there isn't a volunteer handy to direct you. BRING YOUR BOOKLET AS YOUR PRECINCT NUMBER IS LISTED ON IT WHICH TELLS YOU WHICH LINE TO STAND IN. If you don't have your booklet there is a map hanging to figure out your precinct based on your address.

I got to the Village Cleaners polling station near Santa Monica Blvd and Crescent Heights at 7am and voted at 830am (1.5 hr wait). They said they were two poll workers short. They were working from one book and if there was any snag there was complete stoppage of the line. By the time I left it looked like the line (and wait) had increased by 30%.

Logan Street Elementary School in Echo Park: I got there at 10:00 and waited about an hour. I was in the orange line unfortunately... It's worth the wait, though! GObama!

It took me just over two hours this morning in West LA. I got there at 7:30 AM (after getting free coffee from Starbucks!) and finished around 9:45. When I left, the line was longer than when I arrived. But everyone was in good spirits and I was glad to have taken part. It's not like I was in a rush to go to work, anyway.

Brilliant strategy, bluemnky03! Think I might use that for the next election. (I also like wearing my "I Voted" sticker around all day.) That said, I waited just under an hour to vote this morning in Virgil Village nabe, which wasn't *so* bad.

Got to our little church polling place in echo park 5 or 10 minutes before 7am and was done by 730am. it was great to see everyone so excited! one woman pitched a fit because she thought the ink-a-vote thing was broken even though she tried 3 times, but we chalked it up to paranoia.
