Who would ever imagine that there'd be no discourse about withdrawing civil rights for people in LA County? That fertile hotbed of civic engagement. That's saved for the important topics like what the percentage change in the per-screen average High School Musical 3 made or if Disney made the right call in putting it out only in the theaters. Thank you Jeff Kent. Now I know I'm not going to let those two bobble heads I have you collect dust in my garage any longer. California Uber Alles. How embarrassing to have two -- not just one but two!! -- Jeff Kent bobble heads. What was I thinking? And this guy played baseball in San Franciso and could possible go into the Hall of Fame as a Giant?? (Double barf in my mouth.) How he must have hated living there. Did he know there were many gay fans at every game he played?

greatgatsby, by discourse do you mean the media diluting coverage to allow for an experienced candidate with no legislative accompllishments become POTUS, or is that whining? All I know is that in this country, I have seen no discourse since 2000 when we actually had a civilized campaign. Since 02, all we have is right shouting at left and left shouting at right. With the winner with a vote of less than 60% claiming they have a mandate. Prop 8 looks to be passing, and that's because there was NO discourse, just shouting and put downs. I'm all for discourse.

Why is Jeff Kent being attacked for doing the same thing that some No on Prop 8 backers did? One day I will wake up and live in a country, state, and city, where people do not get ATTACKED for their personal beliefs. yes, he is wrong, but I won't attack him personally. The measure needs to be defeated. I also think that if those who are in favor of marriage equality were more CIVILIZED when speaking out against Prop. 8, the measure wouldn't even be close to passing. You don't need to shout down at people. If you do, that means they will never agree with you in first place. Civil conversations, explaining your views, and trying to understand their views, you know DIALOGUE, is the only way to get your point across. having said that, I promise to punch the next Obama maniac in the face if he/she puts me down for not voting for him.

I'm pretty sure 100% of that 15k came from LA Dodger revenue including ticket prices, hot dogs, etc. Not that he can't use his own money however he wants but Kent's dead to me now. 15k rises to the level of major donor in my book too and I think the lack of supporting a major political candidate makes his support of this bigotry even worse. It's like "I can't support 1 of 2 major party candidates but I sure can get behind discrimination."

So what? A lot of people Support Prop 8. People are entitled to their opinions. You're singling out one person for persecution when Prop 8 will probably get a "yes" vote from a majority of voters. I personally wouldn't vote "yes" on Prop 8, but I have a lot of friends and family who would. Some people "hate gays" but I'd say most of them just wish to maintain a traditional definition of marriage. This kind of article is more likely to provoke "hate" than a "yes on Prop 8" voter.

Great, so I guess this means the Prop 8 pushers now have even more money to stuff my mailbox with more hate propaganda... as if the three separate unsolicited gay-bashing ads that showed up yesterday weren't enough. Tried calling the number on the ads four different times to ask that my address be removed from their mailing list, got hung up on each time. Fuck you Knights of Columbus! El Guapo, I think you misread something. He doesn't disagree with Prop 8, he supports it and just gave the campaign $15,000. Considering that at it's core the entire concept of banning gay marriage is based on hate and fear... than yeah, using the word "hate" in this context seems quite fitting.

Not sure why it's "ironic." Denying a fundamental human right to a minority group = bigotry, based normally on hatred, sometimes on fear or ignorance. No matter which way you slice it. So yes, I think "hater" is an apt description in this scenario. IT would be ironic if he were gay, I suppose, but other than that, nope, no irony here.
