Just read this post at Nikki Finke's "Deadline Hollywood Daily" about AMC potentially giving "Mad Men" creator, Matt Weiner, the boot. This would be a terrible tragedy for the series and network but it appears that Weiner's representation, CAA, overstepped and demanded too much money from the basic cable channel - essentially demanding compensation more in line with what a HBO or Showtime might be able to afford.
The hope is that clearer heads will prevail and that this great show can continue with the opportunity for more shows like it in the future. It's been a real treat to get a show of the caliber of "Mad Men", on basic cable and now the third season extension that AMC was eager for just two weeks ago is in jeopardy. Is this a good thing or bad thing for Weiner? He would be out after winning a bunch of Emmys and the show would most likely decline in quality without him. Is there enough of the 1960s to be recycled through the greedy and self-destructive eyes of our boys from Madison Avenue for us to want to watch it? After last Sunday's excellent finale, there's at least one more good season left..... if Weiner is still there.

Don't mess with my Mad Men!
the whole world's gone mad (men)!
Wow... bad news about Mad Men. Hopefully they'll do the right thing... this is the best drama since I can remember (Well, I want to say The Wire but the shows are so different from each other but that was the last thing that captivated me).
I would agree with your assessment that it's just as good as The Wire. One difference is that MM's first season is not nearly as good as the second.
I've read Weiner pretty much controls all aspects of the show (not like a tyrant or anything), but he writes all the episodes, directs alot and has a major say in the costume design and all of that. If he does go, I'm pretty sure it will turn out to be a completely different show.
Just send in Don Draper; he'll straighten them out.
yea after the wire finished i was a complete mess. Good shows now a days are few and far between.
Dont take away my madmen !
p.s don draper is the man
