Secret Service Says It's OK to Hang Sarah Palin

secret service says sarah palin effigy is okay... as long as it's just a goofy doll in a Neiman Marcus coat dress and it's Halloween in WeHo. "We're not treating it as a threat," said Deputy Special Agent in Charge Wayne Williams on Tuesday. "Halloween presents some interesting challenges for us with the masks and costumes." The effigy was up "for weeks" before being called out on LAist (and elsewhere) earlier this week, according to LAT.

Sorry, I am not laughing. I'm a strong Obama supporter, but I would not be laughing if this were Obama hanging or Biden with a rope around his neck. Bad taste, applauded by people who should be horrified at the implications.

I do support free speech, but not incitements like this.

I wonder if Aviles and Morrisette have considered how much ammunition this little monument to stupidity of theirs gives to the McCain/Palin campaign?

Right now I'm kinda loving the caption on this post.

I think this (effigy) is a dumb idea, but honestly; the only threat is to mannequins.

And please, let's not forget shouts of "terrorist", "socialist", and "kill him!" from the extreme right Republicans at McCain/Palin rallies. What's more dangerous; an effigy or words proposing assassination?

There's plenty of disgraceful behavior on both sides of the aisle, but once again, the Republicans take the prize.

Wow as it turns out the Secret Service is not insane.

Good to know.

hang obama in effigy and it'll be called a hate crime

Bring a Sarah Palin effigy to a Sarah Palin rally and I bet Secret Service would go insane on you.

What if I did the same thing instead with a homosexual man? Hey, all in the name of Halloween fun! Right?

> hang obama in effigy and it'll be called a hate crime

But it's perfectly OK to call him a terrorist, communist, and say he should be killed. Good to know.

Whomever hung this, is a complete ass. They think they're being witty, but they don't realize they're actually hurting the Obama campaign.

Just like McCain should say he doesn't want your vote if you're a racist, Obama should say he doesn't want this person's vote.

Things like this are not representative of the people Americans are.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Stupid people are everywhere.

so its okay to pick on the white chick? Me thinks Hillary's supporters were right about the media double standard...

JOIN ME IN A PEACEFUL PROTEST AGAINST THIS "ART" EXERCISE OUR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion that is why are fathers, grandfathers, sons , and daughters continue to fight. There however the right to protest free speech that you do not agree is in the best interest or depicts violence and hate. I personally do not agree with Palin's politics and will not vote for her, however that does not give me the right to depict the death of another human being in a violent manor. Can you imagine how you would feel if you woke up and saw a picture of your mother hanging from a rope? How must her children feel today? We, "Caucasians" found nothing wrong for many years of hanging of our slaves and rallied and celebrated around the trees. The hangings were real, wrong and senseless acts of murder. Had not one person taken that first step, voiced that first word that it was wrong it could still be common place today. I have emailed the West Hollywood Major and City Council office to request information on the law/ordinance surrounding protesting in West Hollywood. Once all the information and permit if needed is gathered, I to will exercise my right to free speech to disagree with this and organize a protest around it. If you would like information please email me at responsiblefreespeech@live.com
I do not like "what ifs" when discussing and debating, "what if this was Obama" "what is this was a gay person" etc. Each side could continue the what ifs to no end. The fact is it is a person, it has been done and it is here and now and wrong to suggest or imply murder by means of any matter.

Hate crimes (also known as bias motivated crimes) occur when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her membership in a certain social group, usually defined by racial group, religion, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, or political affiliation.[1]
Hate crime can take many forms. Incidents may involve physical assault, damage to property, bullying, harassment, verbal abuse or insults, or offensive graffiti or letters.[2]

Just like the suburban white kids who wish they were gangstas, the GOP and its supporters seem headstrong in making themselves victims of hate crimes.

Oh, those poor, generically white, relatively rich people who can't stand having to pay taxes (and the religiously blinded working class who goosestep behind them).... They are a sad, often misunderstood lot. Mocked by the gay, dancing Lib. Labeled as simpleminded or ignorant by those people they've been calling Elitists. When will their story of fear and oppression be told?

Is Jack Bauer man enough to storm Santa Monica Blvd Friday night in the name of freedom?
