West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang chimed in on LAist's Sarah Palin effigy post yesterday. Like 99.9999% of everyone else, he's not cool with it.
"I respect that we all have the right to freedom of speech," began Prang. "However, with that right comes responsibility. While these residents have the legal right to the display of Senator McCain and Governor Palin, I strongly oppose political speech that references violence - real or perceived. Politics in America has become extremely polarized in recent years and we all have a responsibility to focus on our political differences in a thoughtful, and peaceful manner. I urge these residents to take down their display and find more constructive ways to express their opinion."

So technically, if Halloween displays are supposed to be scary and display what you fear the most...wouldn't hanging Palin and burning McCain be a pro-McCain statement?
As if that area of Fountain wasnt hazardous enough, now this to draw peoples traffic and attention.
Simply solution: Turn the noose into puppet strings that McCain's controlling. Then it becomes a political statement that the West Hollywood mayor would probably applaud or at least STFU and turn his attention to far more pressing matters.
