Right Link. This is a diversion program for NON-VIOLENT offenders. It has no effect on prison sentences for VIOLENT criminals. The arguments of the proponents are bullshit. All this does is warehouse more people for longer, probably ensureing that they WILL be violent criminals when they do get out.

Putting people in jails in extremely expensive, whereas giving at risk youth an education, decent parks, resources, drug rehab, jobs programs etc. costs WAY LESS and has more of a positive affect on public safety. California spends four times as much on its jails than its schools, and have you noticed that we have to pay healthcare for people in prisons too? Anyone who thinks being "tough on crime" helps has their head in the sand. Props 6 & 9 are the wrong way to go, people. Vote NO.
