- Hmmm, is it a case of "no news is good news" when it comes to wildfires this weekend? Nevertheless, area firefighters remain at the ready as the hot, dry weather keeps its hold over us here in sunny SoCal.
- The mother and brother of actress and singer Jennifer Hudson were found dead in their Chicago home yesterday; a suspect is now in custody, although Hudson's 7-year-old nephew remains missing. Our sister-site Chicagoist has been covering the case and have some insight into some of the family's struggles.
- In Pomona, a Sheriff's deputy who was struck by a car and fell into a coma four years ago has died. Randy Hamson was hit in August of 2004 while investigating a traffic incident, and never awoke from his coma.
