Even though he is one of the big reasons there is no "subway to the sea" today, he's also one of the reasons we're finally working towards that very subway he helped stopped in the 80s. Nevertheless, Congressmen Henry Waxman (D), representing much of the Westside, earned major points with Esquire on their top 10 list:
Someone must count the costs of this presidency, and Waxman has for years been the most consistent voice in Congress not just calling for Bush-administration malfeasance and constitutional vandalism to be investigated but -- with his army of investigators -- actually doing something about it. In that, he has been virtually alone.
The magazine also hosted a list of the top 10 worst members of Congress which included two Californians: Rep. Pete Stark (D) from Northern California and Rep. Joe Baca (D) of San Bernardino, whose district also made a top ten list--districts with the highest foreclosure rates.

Am I getting the irony here? I don't know about you, but I thought it too ironic to see this guy (the man who represents Bevery Hills) try to toast Fuld, but voted for the credit bailout. Stupid...
I grew up in his district, and Pete Stark does not belong on that 10 worst list.
Waxman, the nose of justice!
I wish he were my representative. Instead I'm represented by the richest congressperson of all.
A DINO!
I'm sorry, I can't STAND Waxman, and I'm a registered Democrat. I used to live in his district - in the poorest part of the district - and he never did shit for us. But thanks to reapportionment I'm now in Becerra's 31st district, and he's just great. Becerra actually does periodical "coffee" town halls with his constituents in and around my community, is obviously more in touch with our issues and is totally accessible. Becerra is more dynamic, Waxman is nothing but status quo politics-as-usual and ONLY CARES ABOUT THE RICH PEOPLE. If he got accolades from freaking Esquire, well, there's your proof right there.
