"We need to redouble our efforts now to match the flood of money raised by supporters of Prop 8," Villaraigosa said in a statement announcing his $25,000 donation to defeat Proposition 8, which seeks to eliminate gay marriage in California. Although Villaraigosa has not officially said so, Top of the Ticket on the LA Times hints towards his higher aspirations that have been long rumored: "Villaraigosa is seriously toying with the idea of running for governor in 2010."
But city records, as his September 30th filing, show that he's raised $2,321,468.97 and spent $563,590.17 for his campaign to be reelected as mayor. Then again, he could always pull out of the local race.

Maybe they'll let him be mayor and governor at the same time?! Here comes state funding to the LA Metro system!!!
Jerry Brown will be the next governor of california
Kudos to Mayor Villaraigosa! He's shown great character in his strong actions to defend the civil rights of all Californians. As I've posted in other blogs here, if anyone wants to join him in fighting discrimination and prejudice on the West Coast, go over to the Equality California website at www.nqca.org and make a donation today. This battle can be won if decent people do the right thing and fight Proposition 8 through their contributions and votes.
