I meant to write:
Allowing gay people to marry would be a step towards tolerance.

"I see. So one is open minded and can avoid the brand of bigot, if one agrees with, accepts and embraces your point of view RSS?"

bigot: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance (Merriam-Webster)

intolerant: 2 a: unwilling to grant equal freedom of expression especially in religious matters b: unwilling to grant or share social, political, or professional rights : bigoted (Merriam-Webster)

If you are unwilling to grant equal freedom of expression to churches that embrace gay people, you are bigoted. If you are unwilling to share social rights with gay people, you are bigoted.

Although I disagree with churches that consider gay people to be sinful and damned, I certainly support their freedom to practice as they see fit.

tolerate: 2 a: to allow to be or to be done without prohibition, hindrance, or contradiction b: to put up with
(Merriam-Webster)

Prohibiting gay people from marrying would be a step towards tolerance. Tolerance does not require that you agree with or embrace or even accept my point of view. To be tolerant, and not a bigot only requires that you put up with your fellow Californians.

Hey mommy mommy, look what I learned in school today. I learned that Tommy's two dad's ARENT actually the devil like you and reverend Marcus say they are, and that they are simply making different personal choices than you made. Why is it that you taught us that Tommy and his whole family are going to hell for being different? Is it because you didn't go to a school that was so open-minded and therefore ended up a bigot? Why mommy?
