LA Was Not as Interested in VP Debates, TV Ratings Show

VP debate tv ratingsDid you watch last night's debates? If you did, you were one of the minority. Kevin Roderick at LA Observed reports: "Nielsen says that last night's Biden-Palin debate drew a much larger television audience — 45% of households in the 55 biggest metered metro areas — than the earlier McCain-Obama debate. But the ratings in Los Angeles were dead last at 34%."

I watched but I Tivo'd it and watched an hour late. And I was drinking. Does that count?

could that be a result of people getting together to watch the debate in either a public venue or in a group at one person's house, thereby bringing down the household count?

Of course the ratings here were low. Everyone here was watching the Dodgers kick some Cubbie ass!

GO DODGERS!!!

what did i miss?

I was fighting my way home from work and missed 1/2 of it. I still managed to fill almost my entire Palin Bingo card, however...

I don't think Nielson counts that, Linkracer, but I do:)

I know some people listened to the debate on the radio while watching the game on low volume on TV so you may have nailed it on the head, reverto.

Congrats, DecafBruin, on finishing the card!

this is probbaly because the debates were scheduled for right around when half the city (and State even) are on their way home. Pretty hard to watch TV when you're in a car or on a train or still at work.

Nielson does count TiVoed stuff. I had class, so I also recorded it, but thankfully got out early enough so I could watch the whole thing before heading to bed.

DecafBruin: Your link is broken, but I found it anyway. Reminds me of "lame office meeting" bingo.

Might be more fun as a drinking game. e.g. every time Palin says "Alaska", "Hockey Mom", or "Russia" you take a swig. The potential, of course, is a short game due to excessive drunkenness.

But yea, I watched it, I thought she did better but got burned out on the "McCain is a Maverick" line. I got that after the third time.

My boss let us all go home early to play bingo... er, uh, watch the debate. I got bingo when she said "heartland" although I fear i might have missed so gees, goshes, and ummms that might have filled up my card sooner.

I was watching the Dodgers like a real Angelino. I knew I could watch the debate on hulu today, but the blogs gave me all I needed to know anyway.

Nukular!

I actually watched a part of it then DVRd it while I watched the Dodger game. Cant miss the Dodgers in the playoffs!
