Mayor Villaraigosa Bets Chicago Mayor Over Dodgers, Cubs Game

So, get this. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley just made a friendly fun bet. If the Dodgers win the playoff series against the Chicago Cubs (the first game is going on right now), Chicago will hand over their 2016 Olympic bid that we lost. And if the Cubs win, Chicago gets to take LA Times owner Sam Zell back.

And all of the sudden, sports bar patrons across Los Angeles turned into Cubs fans.

“It would be a tremendous blow to the City of Los Angeles to lose such a great corporate citizen such as Mr. Zell," Villaraigosa said in a statement. "So in unlikely event that the Dodgers lose, I’d insist that as a consolation he sell the L.A. Times back to an L.A. owner before heading back to Chicago.” Did the Mayor just gain a few more fans at the LA Times building?

As a native Angeleno, all I can say is I sure hope the Cubbies win!

i hate those lame bets where the mayor of boston bets a crock of clam chowder and the mayor of green bay bets a wheel of cheese. i'd like to see two teams face off from cities who's mayors have massive gambling problems. here are some bets i'd like to see:

- losing city has to have every city hall employee show up to work naked on the following monday.
- six months worth of sanitation budget, straight up.
- losing city changes all border signs to read "now entering loserville" for one week.
- losing team moves all of their scheduled home games to winning teams' stadium, concession sales from relocated games go into city slush fund.

etc, etc. go dodgers.

Okay, okay, Alcalde Tony gets credit for this clever move.

HAHAHA!!! Straight up anthony! PWNED!
