3.0 Earthquake Shakes Westside
A few minutes before 8:00 p.m. last night, a small 3.0 earthquake shook the Westside. The quake, located two miles north of El Segundo caused no reported damage, but a cat might have jumped and tipped over a glass of milk or something. Nevertheless, each little microquake is a good reminder to think about preparing oneself for "the big one." One good way is to participate in The Great Southern California ShakeOut where 3.7 million people have already signed up to drop, cover and hold on November 13.

Safely nestled in Silver Lake, I didn't feel a thing. Zach, your speculation of possible damages / effects is hi-larious. I can't believe the local news wasn't all over the spilled milk on-the-scene coverage of quake damage! Granted, it's no cereal boxes that have fallen off of store shelves photo-op, but still!

That was so weird. I saw that on the news how the quake was north of LAX (that's where I now live). But I didn't feel a thing. Eensy weensy quake.

I work in El Segundo. Basically a non-event. Felt like a quick jolt. Gave us something to talk about for a little while. My boyfriend informed me that our cat wasn't fond of the experience!

Didn't feel it in Santa Monica. Of course, I may have been sneezing at the time.

I thought I felt something while warming up my enchiladas last night...
Of course I thought the heat may have been making me hallucinate, but whatever.

Like Sarah Palin said: Earthquakes are just God getting angry there are so many gays in LA.

Didn't notice a thing here in Marina del Rey.

I felt it in the Marina -- but it seemed more like a shove against the side of my building. I was sitting on the floor, and it didn't feel like the entire floor was shaking, just one side. And it wasn't shaking -- just a jolt. It was weird and not very earthquake-like.

I KNEW I felt something, but since it was just one jolt, and a large truck happened to be driving by at the time, I thought that was the cause. I'm in West LA.

I think I felt it in Silver Lake. My rickety bookshelf sort of jostled back and forth. I'd secure it to the wall, but then how would I know that we've had a microquake?
