It almost felt like summer again this weekend as a bloated, crappy movie rang up a huge number at the box-office. Despite seriously sucking balls, Eagle Eye tallied an impressive $29.2M to lead all comers and cement Shia LaBeouf as a guaranteed draw. Aimed squarely at middle-aged women stuck in shitty, loveless marriages, Nights in Rodanthe raked in a very decent $13.5M to finish a distant second. After that it was last week's champ Lakeview Terrace ($7M/$25.7M), followed by the surprising, Christianist Fireproof ($6.5M). The Coen Brothers' Burn After Reading continued to do well in its third week ($6.1M/$45.5M).

The second half of the top 10 was led by the animated Igor ($5.5M/$14.3M); the dreadful, paycheck movie Righteous Kill ($3.8M/$34.8M); the toxic and unfunny My Best Friend's Girl ($3.8M/$14.5M); the dull and overlong Miracle at St. Anna ($3.5M) and the derivative and annoying Tyler Perry's The Family that Preys ($3.1M/$32.7M). In limited release, the deliciously horny, wicked and funny Choke was a lamentable dud (a meager $3069 per theater). It didn't fare quite as badly as The Lucky Ones, though, which garnered a palty $489 per venue despite the radiant, healing presence of the future Mrs. Tate, Rachel McAdams.
