  • A woman who told her husband that she was going to leave him was stabbed to death today. The 69 year old woman died at the scene and the 72 year old man was put under arrest. No one knows what started the incident and police are still investigating.
  • An independent study claims that an LAPD crime prevention plan for Skid Row has failed. The study, "Policing Our Way Out of Homelessness" says that while the overall crime level has decreased, it is no different than the crime level drop for LA as a whole. The $6 million program that started in 2006, added around 80 more police officers in the area.
  • An illegal racing task force made some arrests and handed out tickets to racers and spectators alike. Four people were arrested for illegal racing and over 180 people including 47 juveniles, were cited for watching and/or illegally modifying their car for racing. 74 cars were also taken and impounded for suspicion of participating in the illegal race.
  • Owners of condos are feeling the heat from foreclosures as well. Many HOA's are now requiring fees to be paid by remaining tenants to offset the many vacancies left by folks who can't afford to pay for their condos. Things like repairs and maintenance are usually covered by HOA groups but with no one to pay, some have even resorted to (gasp) watering and maintaining their own lawns.
  • A dispute over a boyfriend between two women turned violent. According to police the women, who are apparently acquaintances, got into a drunken argument when one broke a bottle and cut the other. The victim was transported to a hospital for stitches and no arrests were made.
  • A 19 year old has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident today. The youngster hit a 59 year old man crossing the street to go home and never stopped. He later died at a local hospital. Residents called a tip into police saying they saw two people trying to conceal a dent in their Honda. Police came by, investigated and were able to make the arrest and impound the vehicle.
