At today's Metro board meeting, the group unanimously approved a pilot program that would extend Red Line hours until 3:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from November through January 3rd. Yes, Los Angeles will finally have a subway that operates until 3:00 a.m... well, at least for a short period of time.

The approved motion allows for the program to begin on November 1st, but "those familiar with the discussions have indicated the 14th as a more realistic launch," notes blogdowntown who has been following the issue closely. The program will only exist on the backs of private businesses donating funds, which are due by October 17.

Thank you Metro for allowing me to go out on Friday and Saturday nights while actually enjoying myself instead of constantly worrying about how much a taxi home is going to cost!

Metro, I have said some bad things about you in the past. Please forgive me. Until you screw up again...

Best,

Me

P.S. Congrats to the Dodgers!

Woohoo! Time to get trashed

Sweet! Lord knows I'm going to be taking advantage of this.

since service starts at 4am, doesn't this technically make it like ... almost .... 24 hour service?!

Yay Metro!

Now I can visit friends in NoHo on Fri and Sat nights without watching the clock!

UPDATE: Launch is now Nov 21. Ends December 27.
