Crime Spree Continues in Melrose Neighborhood

Police TapeThe neighborhood around trendy Melrose Ave. just continues to take a beating. Various street robberies and now fake Deptartment of Water and Power employees robbing the elderly (which we've seen before). Here's the latest from the local neighborhood watch:

Two men wearing what looked like official DWP workmen's vests knocked on an elderly couples door in the 700 Block of Curson Avenue during the 9 AM hour this morning (9/22) and asked for permission to enter the home.

A elderly female occupant (Wife) granted them permission to come inside. One suspect stayed outside at the front door while the other entered the home unsupervised and apparently began to gather items to steal from the couple.

Another occupant, the womans husband, then came to the door to see what was going on. The second suspect again identified himself as DWP employee and told the man to go outside to the rear of the house to apparently check to see if the water was working. The elderly man did as instructed giving the suspects an opportunity to flee the location stealing an unknown amount of property.

Suspects are described as two male hispanics. Age, weight not known at this time.

If you have any information about this crime or you think that you may have seen these men in the neighborhood, please contact the Hollywood Detectives at (213) 972-2967

I was over on Melrose the other day around 9 AM. I felt so nervous, especially because there was no visible stepped-up police presence. There needs to be. LAPD, where you at?

That's tongue-in-cheek humor, right?
