@ DJRokyManson: Issue was continued to October 8th. @Elise: They have been obtaining "film permits", which allow them to restrict foot traffic on the sidewalks. Which would make sense, of course, if they were filming anything, and not just trying to block themselves in, or block everyone else out.

The Farmer's Market etc is allowed to close off streets to vehicles, but not to close them off to foot traffic. (Echose os Sunset Junction?) I think the residents on the cross-streets need to apply for permits to hold a "block party" or similar event. If they are unable to close off the street to foot traffic by non-residents, at least they can crank some Van Halen.

I wrote Mr. Garcetti yesterday and I actually got a phone call from one of his field deputies today. She said they have been getting alot of complaints and they are looking into what can be done. Thx Discarted.

Hahaha, their bike cops are HORRIBLE. I ride down Fountain and have passed by LRH Way hundreds of times. The bike cops ride on the wrong side of the road, pull out without looking, cross the street on a red light, and one once tried to stop me for "biking too fast." Are you fucking serious? cars go faster than me, idiot. Bravo to these two ladies. You make me proud to live in LA.

Fuck these scientology assholes. I walk by that street everyday and am harassed by their security on bikes. They ride on the sidewalks forcing you to manuever to avoid them. The city doesn't want to do shit about it and I doubt they will.

I live in an ordinary residential neighborhood. Let's say I have a neighbor, who is very mentally ill and unstable. He is paranoid and vigilant. He prowls the streets all hours of the day and night, writing down license plate numbers and peering in windows to take pictures. He frightens the children and scowls at little old ladies. Eventually, the police would come to take such a person to a hospital. And the neighborhood would draw a collective sigh of relief. Perhaps he would return, in a more stable frame of mind. But what happens when your paranoid, psychotic neighbor is a multi-billion dollar corporation, with a decades-long history of using blackmail, burglary, and infiltration to influence political officials? Then it's no longer my neighborhood, but his. And in this case, since he's a religious lunatic, my neighborhood becomes his personal Holy Land. Interfere with the Holy Land, and you will be labeled a "religious bigot." That's coming, I'm sure. It's always interesting to see who stands up to face a bully: in this case, two petite and articulate women. Brava, Brava! to you both. Your actions demonstrate a greater degree of courage than the unschooled observer might imagine. I'd make a generous bet that one or both of these women was followed home from this very hearing by a private investigator. Is Scientology that brazen? Oh my, yes.

OK Just spoke with Helen of Cncilman Garcetti's office 323 957-4500 A private meeting with LRH way residents will be scheduled (no sunshine). They are only now aware of complaints from residents; public has not complained DUH I told her I want to drive on a public street on the weekend. She said they will start with residents and asked for my name and number. I told her I am unsure about trusting Garcetti until I know that he is not a scino stooge. I asked her if any other city in the US has a street that gets closed every weekend. She does not know about all the cities in the US. I told her is any other street in her district closed any weekend? She said NO. I asked if this is a public street, or a weekend private park? STUMPED. PUBLICS: complain. We want a meeting too. Garcetti's office already has talking points and the piece just ran on ch 9 less than two hours ago. Garcetti> guilty until proven innocent. I want to drive on LRH way on the weekend. I do not want to be PI'd and photographed and followed when I walk/drive on that street. Helen: PLEASE be careful of Scinos! If you don't care to give her an opinion on the public street control by a private business, help her out by warning her about her personal safety. Yes, there are non-scientologists living on L Ron Hubbard Way. I remember when it was called Berendo St, when Scientology behaved like a neighbor you never met and kept it's activities and members at a distance, not invading the quality of life of the "wogs" they so distain. This should be investigated because nowhere else in Los Angeles are you going to find a street overtaken by a nonprofit organization by City Council consent.
