Advertisers will do just about anything to create a cool ad spot that will get their product noticed. That kind of thinking is probably what led American Honda to take over a stretch of Avenue K in Lancaster and set it up so that cars driving on it pass over grooves tuned to emit the notes of the "William Tell Overture."

According to cbs2.com, "the road is tuned to a car just exactly the length, and equipped with tires the same size, as a Honda Civic," although other cars can get the 38 notes to play, "if a little off-key."

All this rollicking roadway action is becoming more like musical madness for area residents, many of whom find the noise wakes them up from a sound sleep. Not long after its September 5th installation, objections to the project were making their way to Lancaster's City Hall. Although some people appreciate the innovation, they are outnumbered by a likely pairing of angry residents and good old fashioned common sense. Avenue K and its "Lone Ranger" theme song grooves get paved over on Tuesday.

Not surprisingly, YouTube is home to several amateur videos made by people driving over the "Musical Road."
