LAist Recommends - East of Eden

East of Eden, tonight at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, is a rare multi-gallery exhibition that will be an extraordinary opportunity to view a wide range of Los Angeles art, all under one roof.
Galleries participating in the FREE eastside-centric event include La Luz de Jesus, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, http://www.blackmariagallery.com/, http://www.drkrm.com/, http://www.galleryrevisited.com/, Ghetto Gloss, Junc Gallery, Materials & Applications, Metro Gallery, Thinkspace, Bert Green Fine Art, Acuna Hansen, David Patton, Farmlab and De Soto.
It will be like going to a years worth of art gallery openings in one great evening.
The “Gala” is free and runs tonight from 8pm to midnight. The exhibition will also be open to the public tomorrow from noon to 5pm.

If La Luz de Jesus didn’t have their hands full with East of Eden, they are also hosting a launch party and book signing tonight for Peter Moruzzi's "Havana Before Castro: When Cuba Was a Tropical Playground."
Promising to “take you on a visual journey from backstreet brothels and fabulous nightclubs to mob-owned mid-century Vegas style hotel/casinos”, the 500 page book appears to be a fascinating look at an amazing moment in history.
The book signing will feature Cuban food, music, and, most importantly, rum cocktails. The party goes from 6p to 9pm, and is staggering distance to the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.
