2nd Person Hit in USC Crosswalk 3 Weeks

A crosswalk at Hoover and 28th has seen two injuries over the past few weeks as the fall semester begins. Drivers say the students pop out of no where at the dark crosswalk and others are saying the usual crosswalks-are-not-100%-safe spiel. Several hit-and-runs with parked cars were reported over the weekend near Portland and 28th. At least one driver was caught, but several more were reported according to the Daily Trojan.

that's a dangerous crosswalk. i've seen idiots (most likely frat or sorot douches) drive their cars so fast through the intersection and the area.

then again, pedestrians should look left and right before they cross even if they have the right of way.

they can always blame the driver if they want, but i'd rather not deal with the pain and insurance paperworks. it's just better to develop a habit of being more aware when you cross, or jaywalk...

I suppose the parked cars also popped out of nowhere in the dark.

i drive through there every night, mon-fri, and it is extremely hard to see these kids running across the street suddenly, and some of them being drunk makes thier trajectory hard to figure out sometimes. there's a lot of stopwalks right there already, so slowing down traffic would add congestion, but more streetlights, brighter lights, maybe one of those flashing yellow yield signs would all be helpful.
