The "Collision at the Coliseum" turned out to be the huge mismatch that most predicted, while the Bruins made some personal history that they would rather soon forget. Records broken in Anaheim and the Dodgers extend their lead.

USC Trojans defeat Ohio State Buckeyes 35-3: Although built up as a showdown of two National Championship contenders, only one really showed up. The Trojans spotted Ohio State a field goal in the 1st quarter then proceeded to run off 35 straight including a defensive TD by super linebacker Rey Maualuga that made it 21-3 just before the half. QB Mark Sanchez made some noise for Heisman consideration throwing for four touchdowns and the Trojan defense held the Buckeyes to 30 total yards in the second half. Some would say that Traveler got more of a workout than the Trojans did yesterday.

UCLA Bruins lose to BYU Cougars 59-0:
The Bruins traveled to Provo, Utah to take on the 18th ranked Cougars and wished they had never gone. All the good feelings from the great win over Tennessee was quickly wiped away under an avalanche of Cougar touchdowns. BYU QB Max Hall threw a school record SEVEN touchdown passes as BYU outgained UCLA 521-239. The Bruins gained just nine yards on the ground, were shut out for the first time since 2001 and had their worst defeat since 1929.

LA Angels defeat Seattle Mariners 5-2:
Although the story is Fransisco Rodriguez's MLB record breaking 58th save it was fellow Venezuelan Juan Rivera's team record 3 doubles that propelled the Angels to their win over Seattle. Rivera, subbing in for the injured Vlad Guerrero, went 4-4 including a homerun and three RBIs. The Angels are on cruise control after already clinching a Division Championship and are just waiting to see how their first round opponent will be. Congrats though to "K-Rod" on a great achievement breaking Bobby Thigpen's 18 year old record.

LA Dodgers defeat Colorado Rockies 5-1: The kid Clayton Kershaw pitched six strong innings allowing only four hits (all singles) while striking out seven, and lead the Dodgers to their fourth straight and 12th out of their last 13. The Dodgers are now six games above .500 (77-71) but most of all extend their NL West lead to four and a half games over the Arizona Diamondbacks who lost to the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings. More good news for the Dodgers as reliever Takashi Saito, who has been out since the All-Star break, was activated and taken off the 60-day DL. Meanwhile outfielder Andruw Jones, who some will say has been out all season, was put on the 60-day DL.
