"Great photos Zach, but who's the guy sitting in the chair watching like it's fireworks or something?" In a major disaster, they set up triage areas, sometimes marked by different-colored tarps. Sometimes they write on people with markers or tape - as Zach shows in a later picture, they used very civilized laminates. This guy is in the minor/delayed triage area. That means he was in the accident and has some level of injury. He has been looked over and is waiting for his turn to be taken care of. He has probably seen some horrible sights; he is probably stunned.

I just watched footage from the crash here in the UK on BBC News. They're even reporting it over here. Zach...your pictures were really good but what a horrific scene.
