I think Kevitivity falls in the same John McCain make-up-your-own-facts generalizations. I think he needs a hug, or perhaps a spanking.

@kevitivity

can you provide a link for that statistic? i've never even been to burning man but that sounds ridiculous. i know the thing is big but christ, i doubt it's that big.

also carbon offsets are offered by various companies and organizations, some of which are useless and really are frauds, some of which are not. i don't know where burning man gets theirs so i can't vouch for them, but your generalization is incorrect.

@Kevitivity => Yes, Burning Man is nothing more than "naked men riding around on bicycles." It is so boring, there is nothing to do there, I don't know why I keep coming back for the past six years. Thank you for enlightening me. I'm glad that you will not be going to Burning Man anytime soon.

I don't know where you get your facts, I can't seem to find that quote at LA Times. But even if it is correct, Burning Man buys carbon offset credits for all their outputs, and participants are encouraged to do so as well.

Burning Man has never seemed much more to me than a bunch of naked men riding around on bicycles.

But honestly, Burning Man is an eco disaster. Do you have any idea how much carbon is belched into the atmosphere when they burn that effigy? According to the LA Times, it's more than all of the "carbon created by freeway driving in LA over he period of 5 years". We all need to call on Burning Man now, and demand that they stop the burning at once.

I was at this random brewery thing in Eagle Rock (Barbara's?) the other day and tucked away in this loft/studio were like 5 light up installations from burning man. I was stoked to get to see at least a little part of it even though I didn't get to go. Great pics!
