"Valley Glen" is redundant, as a "glen" is a valley.So what do you think of "Glendale"? :-) (I knew a pair of brothers once named "Glen" and "Dale", whose mother swore that the combination never occurred to her. Makes me wonder if she used a baby-name book, since both names mean "a wooded valley".) Really, though - what can you expect in the city that brought you "The La Brea Tar Pits"? :-)

gurugirl, not necessarily. The city name that officially attaches to a zip code is the location of the regional post office that serves one city or more. Also, just spoke to the USPS in follow up to get a deeper understanding of all this and according to them in preliminary findings, no zip codes are changing city names but they are just adding Valley Glen as an "acceptable alternative." That means when someone writes a letter to one of the said zip codes and puts Valley Glen next to it, the letter won't be delayed or rejected. That still might be a little confusing. More to co me soon.
