On the list of things you must see in Los Angeles is the Los Angeles Philharmonic playing in their home space at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The Frank Gehry designed building opened in 2003 and with tickets for classical shows often selling out or out of price range for some, many still have yet to experience one of Los Angeles' aural and visual gems.

So here's your chance if you haven't yet. The LA Phil has announced three free concerts called "Phil the House" later this month. Two of them (Thursday and Friday, September 25 & 26) will feature the LA Phil playing Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, Stravinsky’s Petrushka (Tableau 1: The Shrove-Tide Fair), and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 under. An afternoon concert on Saturday, September 27 has one programmed piece, but an amazing one for adults and children--Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf with narration by actor Michael Goldstrom. The show additionally features an "innovative mechanical toy theater used to create a world of live animation, produced by acclaimed opera director Doug Fitch," according to the Phil.

Logistics: Seat reservations may be made at LaPhil.com/PhiltheHouse. Guests with reservations are encouraged to arrive in front of Walt Disney Concert Hall as early as 90 minutes prior and at least 30 minutes prior to the performance, to exchange their reservation confirmation for tickets. Guests arriving within 30 minutes prior to the performance, with or without a reservation, will join the stand-by line for available seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are general admission by section.
