Caught on Tape (Times Two)

VideoCameraSurveillance.jpgThe Inglewood Police are keeping silent about their city council's revelation yesterday that an August 31 incident involving officers fatally shooting a homeless man was recorded on tape and in the hands of the City. According to cbs2.com, the council released a written statement regarding the video, which allegedly shows "seven officers [who] fired a combined 47 times" at "a homeless man carrying a toy gun."

A total of eight Inglewood police officers were put on leave following the officer involved shooting, which happens to be "the fourth in four months" for their department. It is not known if the video will be made public.

Another video, however, has gone public, this time by the police in the hopes that it will solve a case. The LAPD has released footage obtained by a hotel surveillance camera that captured a hit-and-run murder that took place Saturday. The video shows the man being run over, as well as several witness, who the police hope will come forward with information. The LAPD blog describes the incident:

On Saturday, September 6, 2008, at around 11:00 p.m., a 58-year-old man, Roosevelt Turner, was standing at the driver side door of a light colored pickup truck, parked at the curb at the 500 block of Stanford Street. The truck pulled away from the curb while Turner ran along side of the car. Turner then fell and was run over by the truck's left rear tire. The suspect left the scene without stopping to identify himself or rendering aid to the fallen victim.
You can view the video at the LAPDtv website.

Weird...the hit and run tape looks more like the guy just magically appears in front of the truck....I can't see him on the road in front of the truck and then WHAM he is on the ground.

I think there's a little more to this. They said he was running along side the truck when he was hit - but if you look at the video on the lapd website - which actually has a wider view - you can see the head of the guy already at the driver side window (maybe talking to the driver?). Then he's dragged along side the truck for a little bit and then falls down.
