USC Alerts Students About 2 Sexual Assaults

sexual assaults at USCAfter two attacks nearly 24 hours apart from each other early Friday and Saturday mornings, USC campus police and the LAPD are telling students to stay alert, walk in well-lit areas and in groups. Both attacks were off, but near campus involving female students.

In the first attack on the 3000 block of McClintock Avenue near the Cardinal Gardens complex happened on Friday, September 5 around 1:30 a.m. when a student was walking and was grabbed from behind, groped and sexually assaulted her, then running away.

The second attacked occurred the next morning around 1:00 a.m. when a female student walking alone off campus near the Century Apartments (about a mile plus away from the first attack) in the 2300 block of Hoover Avenue, "was approached by three men," according to the LAPD. "One of the men, under the false guise of an escort walked the victim to her apartment. Once inside, the suspect sexually assaulted her and fled." The LA Times reported that her car was stolen by one of the assailants during the assault.

The suspects are clean-cut and have "light complexions, either Latino or light-skinned African American," writes the Times. The victims suffered minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital.

Just an FYI: as far as I know, Century is the name of a USC-owned, off-campus apartment complex that is right next to Cardinal Gardens.

The 2300 block of Hoover is, indeed, a ways away from both CG and Century, and there may be another, non-USC-owned Century Apartments around there, but you may want to clarify your report to alleviate confusion, especially for any USC alum.
