GROW YOUR OWN DINNER
Garden designer Marta Teegen teaches a workshop today on how to create a garden inside your own kitchen. For those on the run, learn how to grow organic produce with out ever having to step outside. It's easy, fun, and delicious!
TAKE A TRIP TO THE ZOO
Carmichael Gallery opens its new exhibit, "Diverge: The Art of Oddzoo" tonight. This is Oddzoo's first solo show, and he will of course be in attendance tonight. His animal depictions have been influenced by the graffiti and hip hop culture introduced to him when he moved to L.A. from Hawaii. If you miss it tonight, his art will be on display until the 28th.
CATCH AN OUTDOOR MOVIE
Both Cinespia and Angel City Drive-In will be screening films tonight. First downtown, Angel City is showing Say Anything. As always, roller derby girls will be serving food and drinks and a DJ will be spinning before and after the film. This is set up like a classic drive-in so make sure you have an FM radio! For a creepier movie-going experience, head over to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery where Cinespia is screening, Duck Soup, for your viewing pleasure. Both films will be projected onto the sides of buildings, so bring a blanket and enjoy!
GO TO THE OPERA
Okay, so we all remember the film The Fly starring Jeff Goldblum right? How could one forget? Well David Cronenberg himself directs the operatic version of the movie, with music written by composer Howard Shore. It opens tonight at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and is sure to be quite the experience for all who attend.
Other Things To Do...
Attend an art opening in Echo Park for L. Croskey and Rebecca Hahn, stop by the opening of Scion's new installation, The Art of Music, go to the L.A. County fair that opened just yesterday, or have a mini-celebration in honor of the company that created those mini-food items for dollhouses (there will be cupcakes). How can you resist?
