Northeast(side) Hosts 'gObama 08' this Saturday

The nation is two months away from selecting a new leader bean, as Homer would say, which of course means it's rally time. No, it's not the bottom of the ninth with Manny up and runners on the pads, and the monkey hasn't made it's way up the 5 from Anaheim. It's political rally time, and what better way to get involved than to also grab a drink, dance a little, and maybe win a free massage or acupuncture?

A large lot in the Northeast (or NELA, as some say) section of our lovely city will host gObama 08 in support of Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama. The event, hosted by author and comedian Lauren Weedman, will take place this Saturday, September 6 from 8pm to midnight. A $20 donation will get you in.

Along with the booze and food, there will be plenty of music provided by local DJ's and bands such as US Mail Band (myspace), Cheryl Caddick (myspace), Eric Layer (myspace), and Joe Greene and the Heavy Steppers (myspace). Raffle prizes will include massage therapy and private yoga sessions. Oh, and there will be cake. If that's not enough, I don't know what is.
