Not much that needs to be added to this, but tonight is a rare opportunity to check out sixties icon Bob Dylan in Santa Monica. Tickets are scarce, but the performance is sure to be a memorable one.

A great night of music in L.A. tonight. Bob Dylan in Santa Monica and classic Brazilian sounds at the Bowl. Conductor Vince Mendoza and musical director Oscar Castro-Neves celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bossa Nova, the sensual, jazz infused samba sounds created and popularized by Brazilian music heavyweights Antonio Carlos Jobim, João Gilberto and Vinicius de Moraes. The program explores the genre's history with the help of special guests such as Eliane Elias, Anna Maria Jopek, Maria Rita and others.

LECTURE
Zócalo L.A. presents an interesting discussion on a topic that is becoming increasingly important for the future economy of the U.S., and the West coast in particular. L.A. vs. Seattle: Whose Pacific Rim Is It? discusses the ways in which the two cities are positioning themselves to better take advantage of expanding economic opportunities with other Pacific Rim nations, especially those in Asia.

What happens when you mix modern rock icons U2 with the classic writings of Shakespeare? As U2 Like It, of course! The Falcon Theatre presents the Troubadour Theater Company's unique interpretation of Shakespeare's comedy, As You Like It but set to the music of U2. Through October 12.
