Jessica Sonner, Holly Conlan, Mandy Moore & Terra Naomi @ Hotel Cafe, 8/30/08

Mandy Moore

Last Friday, Denver-based Jessica Sonner (MySpace), as well as locals Holly Conlan (MySpace), Mandy Moore (MySpace), and Terra Naomi (MySpace) performed at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. Following the female quartet of singer-songwriters were Pedestrian (MySpace) and Andy Clockwise (MySpace).

Yesterday, Moore blogged about her experience testing out new material and collaborating with guitarist Mike Viola:

These last two Saturdays playing Hotel Cafe were amazing. Really. I have never really done anything so off-the-cuff and raw and I have to say it really is one of the liberating and humbling things I have done in the recent past. Viola and I just have a comfort zone and I feel like I've been playing with him for MUCH longer than our tenure of two months working together. To play songs these songs out of which some still have some more work still to be done is really a learning experience. Feedback from friends, the audience etc all really puts some perspective that you might not get sitting on a couch with a notebook on your lap. Anyway, just want to thank everyone for coming out. We're gonna be doing some more of this in the coming months and I will definitely let you know in advance.

As for upcoming local shows, Sonner's is on November 13th at the NACA West Conference in Ontario, and Conlan has a spot on the Hotel Cafe Tour, which starts on October 9th at the SOhO Resturant in Santa Barbara, and continues through October 10th at the Hotel Cafe and October 11th at the House of Blues in Anaheim. And Naomi's is on September 13th at an Anti Prop 8 Fundraiser at Ultra Suede in West Hollywood.

Special thanks to Jessica Sonner, Holly Conlan, Mandy Moore, Terra Naomi, and Hotel Cafe.
