GO ON A HUNT
The F Yeah Fest is hosting an adult-friendly L.A. Scavenger Hunt today. Meet at Echo Park Lake at 2 p.m. in teams of 2-5 people for an outrageous adventure through Los Angeles. Organizers suggest coming prepared with face paint and matching team uniforms. As for the items on the list, a few from last year's hunt include every team member getting cornrows, a life size cutout of Easy E, and a gay porno magazine pre-1987. One of the prizes include an hour on KXLU to play whatever you want!
SUPPORT LOCAL ARTISTS
The Alternative Art Market returns to Pasadena today. Purchase local craft products like jewelry, bags, dog clothes, t-shirts, and more. There will also be live music by Greg Werner and some flamenco by Remmy. The event guarantees no mass manufactured products, so if you are looking for something truly unique, you know where to find it.
SAVE MONEY IN CHI-TOWN
Hunters L.A. is a boutique featuring young designers and new edgy styles. Catch one of the last days of their mega sale, 50-70%, down in Chinatown. You can check out their online store as well to get a sneak peek.
LISTEN TO SOME TALENTED WOMEN
The Instrumental Women project presents Lady Jazz in the Key of Grand, a special performance of all female jazz musicians at the Ford Amphitheater. Pianist Karen Hernandez plays some Latin/Blues music, while Corky Hale, jazz harpist and pianist, shares the stage with members of the Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra.
Other Things To Do...
Check out Jack Johnson, Rogue Wave and the Culver City Dub Collective at UCLA, listen to some jazz on the patio at an English pub (strange mix, I know), catch the last show of the quirky 80's cover band, The Spazmatics, or check out a marble-carving demonstration at the Getty.
