PERFORMANCE: She Wants Revenge and Monsters Are Waiting take to the stage for the Getty Center’s “Fridays Off The 405” series tonight at 6 pm. You know holiday weekend traffic is going to be a bee-yotch tonight, so you might as well get off the freeway and chill out to music, art and views of the folks having meltdowns on the 405.

DRIVE-IN FILM*: The Steve Allen Theater at the Center for Inquiry West kicks off the “Humans are Such Easy Prey” Drive-In series. Their lot opens at 8:30 tonight and the screening of From Beyond starts at 9 pm. There’s also a Q&A with director Stuart Gordon. Screenings also will occur in the theater in case of overflow crowds. The series will continue every Friday night until Halloween.

BIKE RIDES Two bike rides tonight. First up at 7:30 pm is the Los Angeles Critical Mass easy-paced ride "through the city of Los Angeles, exerting our right under California Law to ride bicycles on the street." Bikers should meet at the Meet at Wilshire and Western Metro Station at 6:30 pm. If you can't make that ride, then meet at 9:30 pm at the Rite Aid on Vermont and Sunset for the People's Ride.

ART DECO: The Queen Mary Art Deco Festival kicks off tonight with an opening reception. Celebrate art deco with this weekend-long festival, of tours, lectures, a pajama party, the Art Deco Bazaar, vintage car display, a grand Art Deco Ball with music by Mora's Modern Rhythmists, tea dance with music by the Paul Frederick Orchestra, Cocktails in Historic Places at the Verandah Grill with music by Jim Ziegler and the Swingsations, and so much more. Proceeds will benefit conservation and restoration of the original art aboard the 1936 ocean liner.

From Beyond is one of the greatest cult movies ever!!! From the re-animator series, it is as much hilarity as gore

I tried going to the Getty.... I wish I would have had a heads-up on how busy it was. The line of cars to get in from either direction was ridiculous. I waited about 30 minutes before just getting out of it, and going to the arclight instead. Too bad.... sounded fun. But by the time we parked and got up there it would have been over!
