There's a pretty scary and disappointing, but very thoroughly reported story posted today on LA Weekly by Randall Roberts. If all is true and the alleged video survives to make it to YouTube, the internet is going to go nuts on Hollywood Bowl's contract security firm, CSC.
In short, Sean Carlson and Phil Hoelting, promoters of this weekend's annual F Yeah Fest, were at passing out flyers after the Radiohead show on Monday. Michael Reich of Videothing.com was filming them for a documentary. As this was happening, four CSC security officers were roughly ejecting a patron while Reich caught this on film before one officer approached asking "what the fuck" did he think he was filming before grabbing the camera. A little scuffle occurred and Carlson was pushed to the ground. That situation ended and when they were walking away they heard "that shit's going to be on YouTube. We gotta get that tape."
And so a chase ensued onto Highland Ave., with LAPD reportedly witnessing the tackles and all, but staying out of it, leaving it to Hollywood Bowl security. In an e-mail to LAist, publicist Lisa Bellamore said “we recognize these allegations as very serious, and are cooperating with all involved parties during this investigation.”

wow, just read the whole article. this is terrible.
Holy crap, that is so terrifying. I took a flier from Sean after the show. :( :( :(
TOTALLY FUCKED WITH THE WRONG DUDE, we're gonna get you bastards
Holy shit. What a bad end to a great show.
I seriously hope this doesn't get swept under the rug. I just wish someone had recorded the end of the chase on a camera phone or something.
I've meet a few CSC employees and they have all been either felons or tweakers. It seems they are the only people CSC is willing to hire.
Thats just really fucked up, I hope they get the tape back and it makes the youtube rounds.
Sadly I would guess its just gone.
Once again, great job by LAPD. I wonder if the Hollywood bowl is off the crime map also.
Thom Yorke is writing a song about this.
This is terrible!!!
WELCOME to Los Angeles!
That's so jacked up. Makes me so mad. Now I'm gonna go to F Yeah fest, just to support.
WOW! If you haven't, read the whole article. This is BAAAD news on many levels. So much went wrong here.
security guards, LAPD, theft, getting hit by a car!?!
I can just imagine these huge roid-raging thugs chasing around these skinny hipsters and pummeling them.
I'm spreading the word to everyone that I knew who was at the show in hopes of getting some video, photo and eyewitness proof. If anyone has any luck, email it over!

bring it to the internet! damn you CSC!
hey laist, you should list contact info for CSC, hollywood bowl, etc etc. sean's running the fuck yeah festival and i think CSC did the security for them last year. if not, that's great. people should boycott CSC. this is some fucked up shit.
That's pretty scary alright.
I hope they sue the dog shit out of CSC and I hope the LAPD officers involved at least get reprimanded. (but I wouldn't hold my breath on the latter)
You should contact the Hollywood Bowl directly. They probably have it all recorded on security cams. Get the ACLU involved. NOW.

I was at the concert and I left early to avoid the mad rush out of the Bowl. On my way out, I saw 2-3 motorcycle cops get on their bikes and rush somewhere with their sirens on. As I was headed toward the direction of Hollywood and Highland, by the ivy covered walls, I saw a guy in handcuffs being escorted by two CSC staff members. The guy was crying and screaming something to the effect, "can you please loosen the handcuffs, they are too tight!" Of course the CSC staff said, "NO!" They look like they were escorting back into the Bowl. I saw two motorcycle cops standing there while two other guys were talking to them. They looked like they were in distress. Cops didn't seem to be really listening. A big stack of F YEAH flyers were scattered all over the floor.
What happened to those guys is disturbing. I assumed the guy in handcuffs was just some inebriated concert go-er. Who knew it was the tail-end of something terrible.
As a former pro and current amateur photographer, I'm pretty fucking tired of security guards exercising authority they and the police don't have. You have the right to photograph or film anything you can see when you're on public property; under certain circumstances that right might extend onto public property. Confiscation of the tape and the man's personal property is illegal under state and federal law.
You can just bet LAPD will skate on this one. CSC is a huge company with plenty of lawyers. It will take ACLU action to make a dent. Same goes for the Bowl. It's run by the LA Phil Assoc., whose members are the old and new money LA establishment. Shaming the bowl for this is important.
It's time for the goon squad atmosphere fostered by the Bushies to end!
>>under certain circumstances that right might extend onto public property.
Make that private property.
