LAPD Officer 'Accidentally' Shoots LAPD Officer on Vacation

LAPD shootingThe LAPD is calling this an 'Accidental Discharge," which could be taken to a whole new level when out of context. Well, anyway...

This weekend, three off duty officers on their own social time were in a room at a San Diego Comfort Inn Hotel. "Based on preliminary information, off duty Officer Christopher Campagna, 5 years with the Department, was handling a .38 caliber revolver which was believed to be unloaded when an accidental discharge of one round occurred," an LAPD statement said. " A second off duty officer was passing in front of the weapon when it went off and was struck by one bullet in the abdomen."

The injured officer was taken to the hospital and after surgery was listed in stable condition. The third officer in the room was not harmed.

The San Diego Police are handling the investigation while LAPD's Force Investigation is handing their own administrative investigation. So what was happening in that room?

I had an 'Accidental Discharge' last night after tacos. It happens.

I think you mean "accidentally"

i was expecting an accidental discharge sexual innuendo...oh well.

i was expecting hoping for an accidental discharge sexual innuendo...oh well. Get with the program WestsideHoney

This is garbage. There is no such thing as an "accidental discharge."

Some moron pulled the trigger and the gun did what it's supposed to do. My vacuum cleaner has never accidentally cleaned my floor.

There are only 2 rules to gun safety. 1) don't point at anything you don't want to destroy and 2) know your target and what's behind it.

Even if you think the gun is empty, you follow those rules.

It's not hard.
