One of my favorite places in L.A. Whoever said we have no history just didn't get around much. Granted it takes some effort to look past the glitz and the ever "in your eye" latest thing. But not that much effort! The parts of the floor that aren't tile are quarried stone. Carefully inlaid by color and for a geometric effect. Beautiful stuff and in amazing condition considering all the foot traffic. The built in chaises are amazing too. Every time I pass the ticket counter I ask myself how that area could be put back to use without modifying it. I never come up with a good answer. Kudos to the photographers for the excellent visuals.

Many years ago, I was an extra on the show "The Pretender" in a scene that was shot in Union Station. It remains my favorite location shoot to this day.

It's worth mentioning that the architect for the restaurant at Union Station was a woman, Mary Colter. She did a number of Fred Harvey restaurants and other notable sites throughout the southwest.
