Activist Najee Ali Gets 4 Years in Prison

nagee-ali.jpgFormer gang member, now community activist Najee Ali, 45, was sentenced to four years in prison yesterday after pleading guilty for attempting to bribe a witness in a case about his daughter. He normally would have recieved two years, but the doubling was due to a 1992 robbery conviction and a 2004 parole violation, according to the LA Times. Ali has been a consistent figure in local activism, once being appointed to a city commission by then Mayor Jim Hahn even after Chief Bratton called him "one of the biggest nitwits in Los Angeles" on CNN. Bratton later apologized.

Apparently he IS a nitwit. This man had so many opportunities to redeem himself and really become something in the community. But apparently some people just can't obey the laws no matter what. He really blew it.

A real shame. We all have to serve one way or another. An activist chooses to serve as an example.

If an activist can't stay squeeky clean, they'd best choose another line of work.

Najee was such a shameless fraud / media whore, always vilifying our police officers as criminals while attempting to prop up the real criminals seemingly only because they were black. This guy is like a low-rent Rev. Jackson. Very low rent.

I have to say, however, that Najee's incoherent rants on the Jon and Ken show (KFI) where always good for a laugh.

Yea right Kev.

Like the time the police shot a 14 year old kid who was joy riding, or the mentally disabled kid who got roughed up by police because he was afraid of them, confused and didn't do exactly as they asked?

Things like that Kev?
