There's no contesting that STYLEist is unstoppable, and wholly capable of attracting the comments. This week Tom Andrews' fab fashion photos got you gabbing about: Guys With Style, Project Granny, A Stroll Down Rodeo Drive, and Shopping Mannequin.
Midnight Movie: Legally Causing Traffic in Santa Monica Check out this video nabbed a week ago Friday in Santa Monica when bicyclists-turned-temporary-pedestrians gathered and protested what they believe is harassment from the city towards monthly Critical Mass bicycles rides.
Man Gets Shot in Hollywood, Witnesses Watch, Do Nothing We passed on this forum posting about an alleged incident involving some elbowing, a scuffle, and a shooting, leaving readers--not to mention the victim--wondering what one can do when a gun gets drawn, and why people are so unlikely to do anything when they're witnessing a crime. Punk Rock Social: Shattered Faith, Channel 3 in L.B. Punk Rock nostalgia abounded when Alex's Bar in Long Beach hosted old-schoolers Channel 3, Shattered faith, and newcomers the Krum Bums for a night of adrenaline-injected tunes and some mosh pit action.
Long Beach Tests Out Biodiesel And in another LBC story, Mayor Bob Foster and City Councilmember Bonnie Lowenthal greeted members of the press and community for a beachfront demonstration of the City's biodiesel program this week. Ten city vehicles, including skip loaders, tractors and dump trucks will soon be fueled up with a mixture of 80% diesel and 20% biodiesel in an effort to green up the city.
Manic Hispanic goes Wild at Alex's Bar Oh, hey, whaddaya know, another Long Beach story! (Is this a conspiracy, or what?) We're back at Alex's Bar for another night of music thanks to Manic Hispanic, fresh off their tour of the Western US playing to a hometown crowd of punk rock fans. Maybe it was the "utter chaos" and the "liquids being tossed around" that made this another favorite post of the week.
