Small Brush Fire Reported in Griffith Park*

Griffith park fireThe Los Angeles Fire Department is responding to a small brush fire in Griffith Park near Travel Town. Park Rangers called in the report of a fire covering "approx 3 acres of medium brush" according to d'Lisa Davies of the LAFD. On Thursday we learned that "Fire weather" was back in California, as hot, dry air is spreading up the west coast and into Canada.

The California Highway Patrol soon after requested a shut down of the east- and westbound ramps to Zoo Drive from the 134.

This is the third fire since July 27 to strike the same general area of Griffith Park. The second fire was on August 4 burning approximately 3 acres while the one in July scorched around 25 acres.

*UPDATE: Two additional fires within Griffith Park were reported a half hour after the first brush fire alert was sent out.
