Maybe they don't want to convince your church of anything. Maybe they just want to be treated like everyone else. "It would be like a murderer telling the Church to change their views on murder because the killer was born that way." Nice comparison. Allow me to make one. Nazi Germany didn't believe in equality for gay people either.

You are asking religous people to turn their back on thousands of years of scriptural history because those who do hot want to adhere to those principles want to change the principles to suit their life style instead. You will never convince the Church to believe in your way because they have been told, either by scripture or by direct revelation from God, which is scripture, that it is a sin. It would be like a murderer telling the Church to change their views on murder because the killer was born that way.

thatwasrad: clarification--the church's involvement was news weeks ago; I'm objecting to its duplicity in coordinating its members to canvas for the proposition while encouraging them to downplay their church affiliation (at least in our local ward). GardenCatFM: similar arguments were made against mixed-race marriages, not so long ago. "We're not racist! We just want to protect marriages and families, and mixed race marriages are introduce family problems and are against God's order."

Anti Gay? I don't see an anti-gay message. I see a protect marriage message. Can't you see the difference. No one is taking rights away from gays that they already have. This is an initiative to protect marriage. This article is the kind of hate mongering propaganda that turns people against each other. If the anti-prop8 position was valid, why would they have to stoop so low as to try and redefine the initiative and try to turn it into an anti-gay issue. Open your eyes people and get to know what Prop 8 really means, not what those against it try to portray.
