It's the usual story about the Department of Transportation. It's either lack of community relations, or lack of something else. Today, it's a lack of efficiency when compared to all other departments that review applications for projects.

"The lack of an expedited program in the DOT [Department of Transportation] renders the programs in other departments ineffective," Councilwoman Wendy Greuel said today in a statement. She's talking about when developers have new projects, they must go through various departments for permits. Every department except DOT has an expedited program that developers can pay for.

"A relay team is only as fast as the slowest runner and the same is true for the city's permitting process," said Gary Toebben, President & CEO, Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, in the press release.

thats funnny, Los Angeles cities give virtual carte blanc to any company to dig up city streets and have virtually no oversight to make sure they do a proper job repairing the street. or for that matter whether or not they have good reason to be digging in the first place.
now if its so easy to grant permits en mass to companies with horrible customer service/community relations like AT&T. then why not the county's DOT.
